Speaking Out

We are living in a day when the Nazi “brown shirts” are being replaced with bare breasts, and the swastika replaced with a rainbow. People coming out of the closet are coming out of the woodwork, and any idea worth floating must first feel comfortable on a gay pride float. If you disagree with the party and aren’t part of the pride, then consider yourself the modern equivalent of “Untermensch” (sub-human).

Because of the growing animosity towards Christians in America, not to mention the modern holocaust occurring in the Middle East, now is not the time to be be silent. Now it the time for Christians and social conservatives, including all rational lovers of liberty, to speak out! We must not cower and hide; we must be bold and visible.

Enter stage right a man the left can’t stand…

Governor Jindal

They are rare, but every once in a while a political leader will take a stand based on conviction, not polls. Louisiana is privileged to have one such statesman – Governor Bobby Jindal (R).

Addressing the growing controversy over laws protecting the free expression of religious conscious in the workplace, Gov. Jindal wrote an OP-ED for today’s New York Times. The following are two quotes I pulled from Gov. Jindal’s bold declaration.

“As a nation we would not compel a priest, minister or rabbi to violate his conscience and perform a same-sex wedding ceremony. But a great many Americans who are not members of the clergy feel just as called to live their faith through their businesses. That’s why we should ensure that musicians, caterers, photographers and others should be immune from government coercion on deeply held religious convictions.”

“As the fight for religious liberty moves to Louisiana, I have a clear message for any corporation that contemplates bullying our state: Save your breath.”

That’s how you do it, folks. Be clear, be fair, stand firm, and let the opposition know you will not be intimidated.

Now, cowards to the back of the line.

Whose Agenda?

Boy Scouts

You have probably heard of how the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) recently changed its policy toward homosexuality. No longer will a scout be denied membership “on the basis of sexual orientation or preference alone.” This was seen as a victory for gay-rights advocates and activists across the country, especially those who are open about their sexual preferences and activity.

However, as reported in the New York Times, this will most likely NOT be the last policy change. The very ones who led the Scouts to make this change want to see more changes made, and this is only the tip of the iceberg…

The policy change, effective January 2014, is unlikely to bring peace to the Boy Scouts as they struggle to keep a foothold in a swirling cultural landscape, with renewed lobbying and debate already starting …The Scouts did not consider the even more divisive question of whether to allow openly gay adults and leaders. This drew criticism from advocates for gay rights, who called the decision a breakthrough but vowed to continue pressing the Scouts to allow gay members of all ages.

It seems to me that the decision made by the Boy Scouts was not one made simply for the good of the boys, but as a result of political, social, and financial pressure…

The top national leaders of the Boy Scouts, who pledge fealty to God and country, had urged the change in the face of vehement opposition from conservative parents and volunteers, some of whom said they would quit the organization. But the vote put the Scouts more in line with the swift rise in public acceptance of homosexuality, especially among younger parents who are essential to the future of an institution that has been losing members for decades. As to the Lord

There will always be those who want to pressure us into doing things, but we must keep in mind that when all is said and done, politics, societal changes, membership roles, and public opinion are not God. Believers must determine who they want to please more: God, or man.

The Apostle Paul taught the church at Colossae a truth that is very applicable to today. He said that “whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ” (Col. 3:23-24).

By all accounts, against years of precedent, the BSA changed its policy to reflect a need to please men. By doing so it has voluntarily subjected itself to future attacks which will completely undermine the moral foundation on which the organization was built. “Fealty to God” has been exchanged for the fear of man.

Hacked Email

This morning I woke up to several emails asking odd questions. One friend who is involved with monitoring attempted terrorist attacks on our waterways sent me an email saying, “You have been hacked.” Oh. That explained it.

Well, if you received a strange email from me in the middle of the night (depending on where you live), and if it was a spam email, then please accept my apologies. I can’t say it won’t happen again, but I’ll do my best to up the security.

In the meantime, here are some suggestions to help determine if an email you receive is actually from me…

First, if you receive an email with a time stamp of 3:30 a.m., toss it. If it is so important that I get a message to you in the middle of the night, I will either call, text, or say something other than “Hello!” If you do actually receive an email from me when I should be sleeping, just report me to my wife.

Secondly, I don’t know any “hot girls” or “sexy singles”. Let’s try to keep it that way, OK?

Thirdly, I hate to forward anything, and usually won’t if someone asks. If you receive a message that says something like, “You’ve got to check this out!”, then it’s probably not from me. If you receive anything that says, “Forward this to at least 10 people and you will be blessed with love and success,” it came from Satan, not me.

Lastly, I don’t do weird stuff. If it is an email asking you to check out some new “thing” on the market or a new gimmick to help you lose weight, it’s not from me. If it is a link to something sexual, shame on you if you click it!

Well, there you have it. I am sure I could come up with more suggestions, but I have other stuff to do. I hope this was helpful.
