Do You Have the Heart of the Renewed or Unrenewed?

Do you ever wonder how to tell if you have been born again, saved, or renewed by the Holy Spirit?

Well, I found the lists below in a John MacArthur study Bible a while back, and I thought I would share them with you.

Do a self-assessment (2 Cor. 13:5), if you’re concerned. If you’re NOT concerned, yet you fit more in the bottom half of the list, I’m concerned for you! It might be good for you to check out the tab “Eternal Life” at the top of this blog. Seriously!

Again, this is not original on my part, but I thought it was worth sharing. If nothing else it can shine some light on areas needing improvement.

  1. just to clarify. I was skipping through, and you had circumcision on the list. Most of those including that one does not determine if you are born again or not. Born again is not about actions is about a restored relationship that leads to right actions. Only by proxy do the actions suggest you are not born again, but they do not make you born again. Some of the nicest people who are kind and thoughtful and helpful who give to the poor will go strait to hell.
Christ forgives by his blood, Christ Restores, and Christ gives the spirit. At no time did we do anything that warranted restoration.

  2. He pretty much straight up preaches a works based salvation.

  3. Unfortunately we still have those that go by the old School incorrect, movies one watches or music one listens to or what they do and don’t do, IE, legalism. We’re saved by grace, not whether we watch Bruce Willis movies or listen to Aerosmith, or have a Michelob with dinner. I wish the church would get over that freaking nonsense.
