Don’t Be Nice

I have an idea…

Let’s make the Enemy mad. Sound good? Now, keep in mind I said “good,” not “nice.”

Sometimes being too nice is not good.

Doing what is right and godly takes guts; always being nice is for cowards.

Being good may demand being bold and courageous; being nice may keep you huddled in a cave until the bad guys quit looking for you. I say, do what’s right, even when doing what’s wrong is easier. Do what’s holy, but do it in love.

Therefore, with your minds ready for action, be serious and set your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires of your former ignorance. But as the One who called you is holy, you also are to be holy in all your conduct; for it is written, Be holy, because I am holy. – 1 Peter 1:13-16 HCSB

You may make the Devil and his friends angry, but Jesus didn’t die to make us nice…just holy.

Mr. Anthony, I have been following your posts and appreciate what I have learned. This post about being too nice was beneficial to me. Recently on a private FB page that is Christian based I begin to notice some obvious signs of pride and self righteous. The posts i am referring to were complaining that there are very few conservative christians left, and about the evils of tattoos, wrong kind of music ect…I attempted to tenderly correct, saying only that we are the Body of Christ and to love one another. if there was sin then to deal with it personally with that person. i stressed grace and then I was ripped to shreds. I begin to question if I was wrong and maybe not being nice and loving. (I have notice a very strong culture in this camp, and they circle around (like wolves after their prey) those who don’t think like them. Your post made me realize I can’t worry about being nice and overlook obvious sin. (I have since removed myself from that sight as it brought back too many painful memories from being in an IBF church). Thank you from those of us who are healing from the past!

    Debbie
