Whenever you feel like your life is out of control and as crappy as a yard full of puppies, forget yourself for just a moment…
if only for a moment….
and try to encourage someone else.
Who knows? It might just be they are having a worse day than you.

At my age everyday I am vertical it is a good day!

Oh my too funny! Reminds me of a guy I heard in a waiting room for my oncologist who said, “every day is a good day above ground” lol

Our oldest active deacon often says, “Any day I can wake up and look out my window is a good day.”

I wrote it to remind myself as much as anyone else. As bad as my day could get, there’s always going to be someone having a worse one.
Actually, 24 years ago something happened that taught me a lesson. As I walked into a gas station to pay for fuel, a lady behind the counter at the register spoke to me as soon as I walked up. She was trying to wipe ink off of her hands after a printer cartridge had leaked on her and her clothes and said, “I’m sorry for taking so long, it’s just all this ink got me and my clothes, and I’m having the worse kind of day. How has your day been?” I coldly replied, “I just buried my father.”
The look on her face was unforgettable. She said, “Oh. I’m sorry. That’s worse.”
How many times have we (including myself) been on the other side of that counter with that lady?

Thanks for the reminder. I’ve been succumbing to self-pity a lot lately. Thinking about how to encourage others is a much better use of my time. 🙂
